I was teaching some pupils yesterday, one of the pupils did something I don’t like. I gave him a class work to do. He submitted to me but to my surprise, he did rubbish,😞 he didn’t follow the instructions.
I beat him and he cried. He looked at me as if he should collect the cane and beat me, who that one help or move?😒😎
I made him know I don’t like what he did, his work is rough. Didn’t you understand? I understood, he replied. I told him to do some of the work in my presence which he did wonderfully well, then I clapped and praised him. Later, I noticed the work he did earlier was a result of his lack of focus. He loosed focus on what he was doing and he ended up doing rubbish.
At first when I beat him he thought I was wicked and I didn’t want to accept him the way he was. Later, after praising him for a good work done,he was happy and he told me he was distracted earlier. I told him reasons for the beating because I knew he can do better and I don’t want him to settle for less. He gladly accept the correction and knew the beating was for redirection of purpose and focus.
Human beings are emotional beings, we love to be praised and valued. We love good things. We are always scared of failure or to receive a negative comments but once the negative comments and reactions comes…. Gbam! We feel sad and feels the corrector is wicked, didn’t he/she saw all my effort? Can’t he/she leave me the way I am? We will began to say he is a bad person, he is wicked, she has a bad mouth! She doesn’t support good things, she is an anti-progress but is that all the meaning you could give to that correction and discipline.
HAVE YOU CHECKED YOURSELF?
What are you not doing well?
Do you think you have reach your ultimate?
Do you think what you did was your best?
Have you really given or done the best?
Are you getting better than yesterday?
Are you settling for less?
God our creator chastised and correct us sometimes when we do not His commandments and forsake His ways. Our parents also correct us for wrong doings.
There’s this word GOOD, BETTER, BEST.
Are you GOOD at your good ?
Are you BETTER than your good?
Have you done the BEST after the better?
See corrections or discipline as….
A REMINDER OF YOUR PLANS TO MOVE HIGHER.
A MEDIUM FOR REDIRECTION.
A CALL FOR GREATER EXPLOITS.
